These tablets are concave on one side to allow the burning material to be placed inside. Charcoal tablets must be burned in a heat proof dish with at least 2 inches of sand or natural ash for insulation. Charcoal can burn up to 1,500 degrees F.
Once the charcoal is lit, it should be placed at the peak of the insulation material to allow air circulation. A pinch or two of the incense material can be added at this point. As the smoke begins to thin out, more material can be added. The charcoal will stay hot enough to burn incense for about 45 minutes to an hour.
